Enterprise High Makes Big Impact at State Track

PROVO, UTAH – Jaslyn Gardner returned from State track as the 2A State Champion with the fastest time of the day in all classifications with a time of 12:08 in 100M. Gardner also took first place in the 200M that gave Enterprise the attitude they needed as they continued to excel in the two days.

Junior Shelby Lyman of Enterprise took first in Javelin with a throw of 124’4″ to claim the 2A State Championship.

Many Enterprise Wolves shined at State Track like Senior Jase Anderson that set a new PR (personal record) by two seconds in the 1600M taking sixth place. Anderson also took another sixth place finish in the 3200M.

Allison Yardley got a three-second personal record in the 1600M, while her 4×400 girls team placed 8th. That team included Yardley, Ellie Hurtliff, Jackie Holt and Amanda Humphries.

While the boys 4×100 team set a new school record & 2nd place at state in 2A 4×100 with Ron Espline, Caleb Koopmans, Michael Dougherty & John Oswald with a time of 44.45. Dougherty also took 5th in the high jump.

Sherri Platt took 2nd in shot put at 2A while Joey Paine set a new PR taking 4th place in shot put. Hannah Beckstrand took 6th place in discus.

Hunter Carter ended the day in 6th place in the 800M and also earned Academic Allstate.

Coach Kelli Koopmans said, “I am so proud and amazed by these kids! I just can’t say enough about how hard they’ve worked, and how much heart and determination they have shown.”
