SPANISH FORK – Enterprise High Lady Wolves softball team dream season came to an end as they fell in the championship game against Manti High. The Wolves took second place in the 2A State Competition and went an impressive 25-7 on the year.
The Lady Wolves easily handled last year’s 2A State champion team South Summit twice, but couldn’t get past the mighty Manti High Templars that beat every opponent by nine points or more.
South Summit faced the crushing power of Senior Stacie Williams, as she hit two home runs and racked up six RBIs on two hits for Enterprise. Jessica Farnsworth also ignited the offense with her solo blast home run in the win for the Wolves and grabbed an RBI sending freshman Kangie Bundy home.
Emilee Hiatt pitched five shutout innings, struck out three, walked none and gave up two hits.
Manti easily handled Enterprise pitching as seven hitters combined for 20 hits, 16 RBIs and 13 runs scored. Once they took the lead in the first inning, they never looked back. Enterprise had a 4-2 deficit and tried to keep things alive, but Manti scored three more runs in the second.
Manti finished the game with seven runs in the fifth inning to close out the game 16-6.
