Enterprise Wolves 2016 Football Season
ENTERPRISE, UT – Enterprise High School is back in session on Thursday, August 11 and football for the Wolves kicks off on August 19th at home against Diamond Ranch 2015, 1A state champions. Coach Barry Jones from last year’s squad said in their pain 13-42 loss against Diamond Ranch, “It was like playing a Jr College. I have not seen guys that big in high school.”
Enterprise went 5-6 in 2015 and made it to the 2A quarterfinals for their second year. They lost to South Summit 42-0 to end their season.
Everything feels new for Enterprise football starting with head coach, Andrew Messersmith. He is coming to Enterprise from Uintah High School where he was their defensive coordinator for five years. Coach Messersmith is implementing a new system that is focused on running the ball along with new quarterback Jayson Holt. This will be Holt’s third offensive system in three years.
Quarterback Brandell Shumway and favorite wide receiver target Michael Dougherty graduated along with backs Josh Shimbeck and Cole Stratton. Big holes on the offense side of the ball are being filled by Caleb Koopmans and John Oswald who both had great seasons as backups that will now be leading the Wolves.
The Defensive side of the ball will be led by returning starter Jesus Morales who will be joined by Koopmans and Oswald.
Enterprise is a young team on both sides of the ball and will go up against some talented teams. The last time they took home a state championship was in 2003, and high hopes for a decent year.
