Instant Memories From Polaroid ZIP Mobile Printer
The world of instant everything and photography has been colliding for the past few years. There are a few products that connect to your smart phone and allow you to quickly print those images without a computer and some are small enough to be portable. Polaroid’s new product aims to make this style of printing more accessible and portable.
The ZIP Mobile Printer
is small enough to fit in your pocket next to your phone and prints 2”x3” color prints in under a minute. The key to the size is that the ZIP printer doesn’t use ink. Polaroid calls the technology ZINK (Zero-Ink). The results are smudge-proof prints with a peel-back sticky paper.
Using Bluetooth or NFC, the hand-held printer allows you to print one or multiple photos per print. A battery pack that lasts for about 25 prints takes about 1.5 hours to charge. The convenience of small and portable with no ink, means you are bound to purchased Polaroid’s paper in packs of 20, 30, and 50. Expect to pay about $0.50 per print.
