LDS Church Announces 5 New Temples With Another Coming in Utah
Thomas S. Monson, president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints announced five new temples to be built. Brasília, Brazil; Manila, Philippines, Nairobi, Kenya; Pocatello, Idaho; and Utah will be getting their 18th temple coming to Saratoga Springs, Utah. This announcement came from the Church’s 187th Annual General Conference.
The LDS church currently has 155 temples worldwide in operation, with 27 under construction or recently announced. This brings the total to 182 temples. Local residents are anxiously awaiting for the Cedar City, Utah temple that will be dedicated on December 10, 2017. Also this year the church will dedicate four other temples; Paris France Temple (May 21), Tucson Arizona Temple (August 13), Meridian Idaho Temple (November 19).
Brazil will be getting their 10th temple. Six in full operation with three others coming.
Africa will be getting their 8th temple. Three in full operation with two under construction, and three coming.
Manila, Philippines will be getting their second temple and fourth in the country. Two are coming.
Idaho is getting their 6th temple. Four temples are in operation in Boise, Idaho Falls, Rexburg and Twin Falls. The Meridian Idaho Temple will be dedicated November 19, 2017.
