Snow College Music Professor to Perform on Stephen Colbert’s Late Show
Ephraim, UT – Philip Kuehn, Director of Jazz Studies at Snow College, will be performing as a guest with the house band on the Late Show with Steven Colbert in New York City June 6-8 and 13-18.
Kuehn has been a musician his entire life. He started working in the Pittsburgh Jazz Scene at the age of 12 and earned his Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Jazz Studies from the Juilliard School. During his ten years of experience in the New York and worldwide Jazz and music scenes, he worked on numerous occasions with Wynton Marsalis’s groups: The Jazz At Lincoln Center Orchestra, and The Wynton Marsalis Octet and Quintet. He has toured with Harry Connick Jr. and recorded with a variety of professional artists. Kuehn has also performed with Roy Hargrove, on ABC with Tony Bennett, and at the White House and Kennedy Center with the late Dr. Billy Taylor. He is also active as a composer, arranger, and transcriptionist. He recently completed a 24- song transcription portfolio of pre-1960 songs for Harry Connick, Jr.

Improv actor and comic Stephen Colbert of the critically celebrated “The Colbert Report” is at the helm of the Late Show. The show includes a look at recent headlines and features sketch comedy, celebrity interviews and musical performances. Joining Colbert is his bandleader and past roommate of Kuehn, Julliard-trained Jon Batiste, and house band Stay Human. The show is filmed in New York’s famed Ed Sullivan Theater, the longtime home of the Late Show.
